Three top wellbeing podcasts that promote positive wellbeing and produce results

Podcasts pack a punch: over 19 million listeners streamed or downloaded pods to power their workout, or accompany their commute last year. And their popularity is ever-increasing.

Covering an array of topics, formats and genres, podcasts can be informational, inspirational or simply silly.

They can also contribute to your wellbeing or wellness journey: offering advice, sharing experiences and connecting you to resources to improve your health and happiness.

This week’s blog picks three wellness podcasts we recommend for a load of learning and a lot of laughs.

Feel Better Live More: Dr Chatterjee

  1. Feel Better, Live More: Dr Rangan Chatterjee

If you haven’t heard of Dr Chatterjee, then we prescribe you multiple doses of this show: the number one podcast on health in Europe!

Regarded as one of the most influential doctors in the UK, Dr Chatterjee is the author of 3 Sunday Times bestsellers, has appeared in numerous international publications including The New York Times, Grazia, Vogue and The Guardian. His TED talk, ‘How to Make Disease Disappear’ has been viewed 4.4 million times.

Evidence-based and entertaining, the GP seeks to inspire people to transform their health and happiness through making small sustainable changes to their lifestyles.

With over 1.5 million weekly listeners and close to three hundred episodes, the podcast has become something of a thought-leading phenomenon – and a helping hand for hundreds of people’s holistic happiness.

A new episode is released every Wednesday, with a bite-sized version following each Friday – setting up your weekend positively, even for the most time-pressured fans.

Power Hour: Adrienne Herbert

2. Power Hour: Adrienne Herbert

If you are time-poor and feel that whilst you can listen to a podcast, you have no space to apply its messages…then Power Hour is the pod for you.

Based on a simple message: create the smallest box of time, an hour, at the start of your day to work on YOUR goals: fitness, spiritual wellness, writing that novel…anything that is for you, before the rest of the world wakes up and demands your attention.

Habit-forming is the key to long term change and this podcast works on the premise that a small step of taking an hour daily, realigns you with your aspirations – and that space of self-care / self-focus is, in itself, a step towards more complete wellbeing.

Host Adrienne Herbert interviews an array of coaches, change-makers, innovators and influencers to discover their moving routines, daily habits and ideas for living well.

Living Your Life On Purpose

3. LYLOP (Living Your Life on Purpose): Gary Robertson

These daily podcasts aim to keep listeners inspired to achieve their goals – whether in fitness, or in other areas, saying: “success in life is the culmination of little wins on a daily basis.”

Latitude’s very own Paul Wilkinson appears on an episode this month – with some fascinating insights into implementing and sustaining change in his own wellness journey, and the role he sees Latitude Wellness playing in workplaces across the UK.

In the podcast he argues that small changes over time will form better habits and ultimately prove sustainable. Getting fit and being healthy does not have to involve extreme behaviour, but should actually be smaller and more simple steps.

His key tips for simple shifts that create impact?

  • Eat well: including protein and veg
  • Sleep
  • Drink water
  • Weight-bearing exercise

Latitude’s Workplace Wellness Program is designed to help businesses better support each individual in their workforce to be more well. Perhaps, like Paul, those individuals perhaps have no other support towards making healthy changes, nor any accountability in their actions to do so.

Latitude also builds a community – via the hub’s forum – to share stories and tips around wellness and fitness.

We know wellbeing at work is tied to productivity and workplace satisfaction (explore more in our blog on this topic here) – and sits in opposition to absenteeism or presenteeism – so it’s imperative that an employee’s wellbeing is as valued as the work they’re expected to do.

79% of podcast fans listen via their smartphone, working them into their lives on the go. If you haven’t done so already – join them! Get an aural dose of daily wisdom and – hopefully – find new ways to work in wellness to your week.

How does your workplace share wellness tips or resources? If you’re heading up a HR department, get in touch to learn how Latitude’s forum – and other programs and content – can help create a culture of wellness and health for the employees in your company.
